Overview
Adam L. Shaw is a litigation attorney at Hijazi & Carroll, P.A., where his practice focuses on real estate and construction disputes, as well as broader commercial litigation matters. He represents property owners, developers, and general contractors in disputes involving projects, property, and contracts, and regularly advises clients through all phases of a dispute—from initial conflict through motion practice and, when necessary, trial.

With more than a decade of experience, Adam has handled a wide range of complex business disputes in federal and state courts and in arbitration. His construction and real estate work includes disputes involving construction defects, delays, payment disputes, mechanic’s liens, commercial leases, and project-related contract issues. He works closely with architects, engineers, and other technical professionals to develop clear, effective litigation strategies grounded in the realities of each project.

In addition to his construction and real estate practice, Adam maintains experience in general commercial litigation, including partnership and LLC disputes, contract claims, and labor and employment matters. He is known for providing practical, business-minded counsel and for approaching litigation as a tool to achieve efficient, strategic outcomes for his clients.

Before joining Hijazi & Carroll, Adam practiced at Am Law 100 firms in Washington, D.C., and later founded his own practice focused on business and construction disputes. His experience spans high-stakes litigation and day-to-day advisory work, allowing him to guide clients through both immediate disputes and long-term risk management.

Adam is a veteran of the United States Air Force, where he served as an air weapons officer and airborne surveillance officer in support of NATO and U.S. Forces Korea. He later worked as a policy consultant supporting federal compliance initiatives. He brings the same discipline, clarity, and mission-focused approach from his military service to his legal practice.

Adam is admitted to practice in Virginia and the District of Columbia, as well as multiple federal courts.
